For the Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande song, see Stuck with U. Throw in the "church organ" at the beginning and you have a whole other level, with the religion aspect, but I won't go there at this time. For the Zones song, see Stuck with You (Zones song). To me, this song sounds like someone who is in denial and they know it, but can't quite face it. If someone feels like it's "too late" they either have horrible low self esteem, thinking no one else will want them, or they are "staying together for the kids" which is usually a horrible idea.Įven the line, "I can see that you're happy to be stuck with me" sounds like wishful thinking at best. "We thought about breaking up, but now we know it's much too late" It's never too late to break up with someone if they are treating you poorly. Yes every relationship has some of these, but to what extent? This reminds me of a battered wife who keeps telling herself it's worth it to stay because of the good times, when her man isn't drunk off his ass and isn't using her as an excuse and/or punching bag. "That's the way it's supposed to be", referring to having "ins and outs". If you have doubts about someone but you don't face them, you're asking for trouble down the road. "We've had our doubts, but we never took them seriously" - This is one of the most telling lines. Consider the person who is in an abusive relationship but can't bring themselves to leave for whatever reason (family, their kids, etc.)

The title itself, while most probably consider it "cute" to say they are stuck with each other, it's actually pretty sad. To me, it sounds like it was written by someone who is in denial about how crappy their partner is. But I was thinking about the lyrics recently, and I think it means something else. My InterpretationWhen I was a kid, I always enjoyed this song, mostly due to the upbeat music and the silly video. (Ooh, wa-ooh) I'm happy to be stuck with you (Ooh, yes, it's true) I'm so happy to be stuck with you We are bound by all the rest (ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh) (Ooh, wa-ooh) We thought about breaking up We thought about breaking up, now we know it's much too lateĪnd we've had our ins and outs (ooh, wa-ooh) We thought about someone else, but neither one took the bait We've had some fun, and yes we've had our ups and downsīeen down that rocky road, but here we are, still around
